The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation believes in healthy, well-run nonprofit organizations and understands that all nonprofit organizations need help from time to time in order to function more effectively and efficiently. This is especially true of new or emerging nonprofit organizations or those with smaller budgets.
The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation has set aside specific funds to provide grants for nonprofit organizations to receive this kind of support. The Community Foundation provides revolving grants throughout the year, up to $2,000, that develop and/or strengthen:
* Fiscal Responsibility * Board Governance * Sustainability * Technical Assistance * Asset Development
To be eligible to receive an Organizational Capacity grant, agencies must first meet the priorities in one of the Five Grant Focus Areas and make the connection between how an Organizational Capacity grant will maximize the opportunities for the agency to accomplish these priorities. These grants will be made for focused and strategically addressed needs to leverage and build capacity, not for general operating support or capital support. If you are currently requesting a Vibrant Community Grant, Fund for Women & Girls Grant, Youth Against Violence Grant or Green Partnership Fund Grant, you are still eligible to apply for an Organizational Capacity grant.
Applications that meet the Community Foundation’s basic requirements undergo an assessment by staff. Organizational Capacity grants are approved by the President of the Community Foundation and ratified by the Board of Directors.
How to Apply: Submit the Organizational Capacity Application (download file below) to the Community Foundation via email to Sherrana Kildun at sherrana@gtcf.org. If you are unsure if your project fits into the goals of this program, you are encouraged to speak with program staff regarding your project before completing the application. They can be reached at: (253) 383-5622.
Timeline: The Community Foundation accepts revolving applications at any time during the year. Decisions are made on a case by case basis. | |
