The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation (GTCF) is a charitable, community corporation created for the people of Pierce County.  Established in 1981, GTCF is one of more than 700 community foundations in the United States today.  The Foundation provides a simple, powerful and highly personal approach to giving.  As a catalyst for building community through local action – we connect donors with causes that matter.

The Foundation collects gifts from individuals, corporations and organizations, using the gifts to establish new named or anonymous funds or add to one of our existing 350 charitable funds. We oversee and prudently invest more than $74 million in assets.  A majority of these funds are permanently endowed.  We use a portion of the proceeds from our pooled investments for a wide range of charitable purposes, but maintain the principal to ensure a permanent philanthropic source for the future.  GTCF awards more than $2.4 million in grants to non profit organizations and to student scholarships each year.  The Foundation's operational costs in FY 20045 were less than 1.39% of assets.
