The mission of the Fund for Women & Girls: Promoting the power of generosity among
women and funding opportunities for women and girls in Pierce County.

Our vision:
All women and girls achieve their dreams.

The Fund for Women & Girls (FFWG) was established by The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation in late 1999.  The fund is building a permanent endowment which will fund programs and projects in Pierce County to provide opportunities for women and girls to achieve their dreams.  The goal of the endowment is $1 million dollars.

The FFWG is not waiting to meet its financial goal to make a positive impact.  Until the goal is reached, $25,000 will be awarded annually on a competitive basis to projects that improve the lives of women and girls. The deadline to apply for a grant is August 20. When the $1 million mark is met, more money will be available.  To date, the Fund has granted $150,000 to more  than 40 organizations.  We are more than half-way toward our endowment goal.  You can help us reach our goal by donating on-line. Just click on the "Donate Now" button. Donations of all sizes are appreciated.  Consider a monthly gift. With monthly gifts, you set the amount and we do the work.  We send you an e-mail reminder every month of the credit card transaction.  It is easy and effective!

The Fund was established because women and girls are disproportionately affected by a number of issues which may limit their ability to participate fully in our community. The Board of Directors of The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation decided to address these concerns locally by establishing the Fund.

A diverse group of women from the community serve on the Fund's Advisory Committee.  Other committees include Events, Grants, Education/Outreach, Strategic Planning and Fundraising.
