The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation (GTCF) manages Funds, Annuities, Trusts and Unitrusts and Supporting Organizations such as: Unrestricted Endowment Funds, Designated Endowment Funds, Scholarship Funds, Agency Endowment Funds, Donor Advised Funds (Permanent and Non-Permanent), Pass through Funds, Designated Funds (non-permanent), Charitable Gift Annuities, Charitable Lead Trusts, Charitable Remainder Trusts, and Field of Interest Funds. The Fund for Women & Girls is a Field of Interest Fund.
Committees of the Fund include:
The Advisory Committee is the policy-setting body of the Fund. Members of the Advisory Committee may serve on various committees.
The Fundraising Committee seeks donations and pledges towards the permanent endowment of the Fund
The Grant Making Committee receives, on behalf of the Fund, grant applications for programs and projects serving women and girls, analyzes the applications and the information gathered at site visits, and decides whether or not to recommend funding an applicant to the Advisory Committee and then to the Board of The GTCF, who is the final approving body.
The Events Committee plans events that include publicity, education, awarding of grants, and fundraising. Currently, events include the Artist Market in November, the Grants Reception/Auction in February and the Power of the Purse Lunch in May.
The Education and Outreach Committee contacts diverse community organizations and schools to inform the public about the Fund and encourages and educates community members of all ages on the importance of philanthropy.
